Summer is all very well with the lovely hot weather but this can become over-powering when it gets very hot and the summers in the UK are only going to keep getting hotter. There is a simple solution though which is air conditioning and it does not cost as much as you would think, there were days when air conditioning was limited to the super rich and huge public buildings but you can now buy an air conditioning unit very cheaply.


And they are very effective too. They are small and unobtrusive in your home and simply extract heat from your home using a small hose. Most air conditioning units have several speed settings so that you can have it work harder when it gets hotter and they also often have a dehumidifier built in which removes moisture and humidity from the air which is very nice.

There are a few things to look for when you buy an air conditioning unit for your home and the first is the power of the unit. When you visit an online shop they will usually tell you the power and maximum room size for that air conditioner and so you have to buy one that is right for the size of the room you are going to be using it in and the more power it has the better.

There are also some very useful features that are worth looking out for such as a timer which allows you to set the air conditioning unit to come on at a specific time of day. This could be for when you come in from work or when you come home in the day time and it is lovely to walk into a pre-cooled home on a hot day, in fact once you have experienced this you really will wonder how you ever managed without air conditioning before! Some air conditioners also have a remote control so that you can alter their cooling easily and some are also designed to work very quietly and so are ideal for use at night. These are often split systems and so have a unit outdoors and one indoors with the outdoor unit doing most of the work which keeps the noise outside (they are not too noisy though and so shouldn't cause any problems with neighbours).
